The Fourth of July in America is a very special time. It’s the day that our nation celebrates our Independence from Great Britain and commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of Independence. People across the country enjoy festivities such as parades, barbecues, concerts, and most of all, fireworks!
There are many cities in America that offer wonderful celebrations for the 4th of July, but few can rival the patriotic feeling of celebrating in our nation’s capital. Spending the day on the National Mall in front of the U.S. Capital and watching the amazing display of fireworks over the Washington monument is just a spectacular experience.
The best way to get to the National Mall is by metro. Plan to arrive early to stake out a good viewing spot for the parade as well as the fireworks. The National Symphony Orchestra and several popular artists always perform a live concert on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capital as part of a Independence Day tradition. Celebrating July 4th in Washington DC with your family, friends, and fellow Americans is truly an experience you won’t want to miss. Enjoy the show!
