The Everglades are a natural region of tropical wetlands found in the southern portion of Florida. The primary feature of the Everglades is the sawgrass prairie which is often referred to as the “river of grass.” Taking an Everglades Airboat Tour is definitely the best way to see this area.
Having a flat-bottomed design in conjunction with no operating parts below the waterline make it ideal for skimming the surface of shallow swamps and marshes. Feeling the wind in your face and experiencing the wide open space is an experience to be had.
There are a number of airboat tour operators throughout the Everglades, but the one I highly recommend is Buffalo Tiger. Family owned and operated, Buffalo Tiger is located on the Miccosukee Indian Reservation. Because of this, they don’t have the same restrictions as other airboat tours and can get you very close to the alligators. The 45 minute guided tour was very informative about the history of the Everglades and even included a stop at an authentic Indian camp on Tree Island which was also the birthplace of Buffalo Tiger himself.
I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. It opened my eyes to the beauty of the Everglades and allowed me to see alligators and other native wildlife in their natural environment. It’s a great experience for those of all ages and I would recommend this tour to everyone.
Many thanks to Buffalo Tiger Airboat Tours for taking my family and me on a memorable adventure. All opinions, as always, are my own.
